Rental Guide
What You Need Before You Book
Read this once and pickup day takes ten minutes instead of an hour.
Driver requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Valid, unexpired driver's license — physical card presented at pickup
- Current personal or commercial auto insurance in the renter's name
- The person who signs the agreement must be the person who tows
Insurance
You upload proof of insurance during checkout. We check the named insured and the expiration date. Your auto policy typically extends liability to a towed trailer, but coverage for damage to the trailer itself varies — check with your carrier. Optional rental protection reduces your responsibility for accidental damage to our equipment and is not liability insurance.
Tow vehicle and hitch
- Manufacturer tow rating that exceeds the trailer's loaded weight with margin
- Class III receiver minimum; Class IV or higher for the deck-over and dump trailers
- 2-5/16 inch ball with a rating at or above the trailer GVWR
- 7-pin round RV blade electrical connector with working lights
- An operating trailer brake controller — required on every trailer we rent
- Safety chains crossed under the coupler
During checkout you'll photograph your receiver, hitch and ball, electrical connection, and brake controller. Our rules engine flags anything that looks marginal for manual review. Final towing approval is subject to inspection at pickup, and the renter remains responsible for verifying the tow vehicle, hitch, cargo, and equipment are legally and safely rated for the rental.
Mileage allowances
- 25 miles per booked hour on hourly rentals
- 75 miles on a half-day rental
- 150 miles per day on daily rentals
- 750 miles on a weekly rental
- Additional distance billed at $0.50 per mile
We record your tow vehicle odometer at pickup and return. Long-distance trips are welcome — just tell us the destination during booking.
Loading and securement
- Never exceed the trailer's rated payload or GVWR
- Aim for roughly 10–15% of the loaded weight on the tongue
- Secure vehicles at the wheels or axles, not the suspension
- Tarp loose material before you leave the lot
- Re-check straps and chains within the first few miles
Returns
Return the equipment clean, empty, and with every rented accessory. Dump trailers must come back empty and swept. If you return after hours, use the secure return link in your reservation to confirm parking, securement, and accessories — the security deposit stays pending until we inspect.
Fees you can avoid
- A 30-minute late grace period applies; after that, late fees escalate by tier
- Excessive cleaning starts at $75
- A dump trailer returned with material is $250 plus disposal cost
- Unauthorized drivers are $250; unauthorized sub-rental is $500
Every post-rental fee requires a documented category, amount, explanation, and owner confirmation before it can be charged, and you receive a receipt for it. Read the full rental policy.
